Origins Argument
Mar 03, 2022Critics of Splankna Therapy will often use what we call “the origins argument.” Basically, they assert that if something has tainted origins, then none of its developments, outgrowths, or uses can be redeemable. So if energy psychology was originated (i.e. first considered or developed) by people with eastern philosophies, then it cannot be of God.
There are two fundamental problems with this way of thinking:
1. If the origins argument were true, then that would mean that an unbeliever (i.e. a Buddhist or an atheist) is literally incapable of correctly observing creation. But obviously, that cannot be the case. An unbeliever is just as capable of accurate observation as an unbeliever. 2+2=4 whether you know God or not.
2. The second problem with the origins argument is that it is fundamentally non-redemptive. Non-redemptive theology says that there are things that inherently belong to the enemy and therefore cannot be redeemed or used/experienced God’s way. But this is unbiblical thinking. God states unequivocally that all things are in him, through him and for him. Therefore by definition, anything that the enemy does or uses has to have its true “origins” in God’s own intention. Anything the enemy does has to start with God’s own “stuff” because that’s all there is.
Let’s look at the medical world as an example. If we looked at medicine through the origins argument, it would be entirely demonic and unredeemable, evidenced by the famous Hippocratic Oath, originally required to be sworn by all medical practitioners. The Hippocratic Oath begins as follows:
“I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panacea and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfill according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant…”
If I fulfill this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.
It cannot be denied that this “origin” is against God, thoroughly soaked in idolatry and witchcraft. And yet we are able in this case to recognize that those deceived origins do not render evil all medical developments since then. The same holds true for energy psychology. Whether its first developers knew the Living God or not, 2+2 still equals 4 because God made it to.
